I noticed this weekend when cleaning the interior of my 67 convertible that the relatively new softtop is clearly wearing/abrading on the inside of the vinyl. The area that is wearing is the "quarter panel" areas where the sides wrap around to the rear. The fabric surface on the inside is abrading and will probably eventually wear through I suspect. Nothing visible from the outside yet. I looked closely when the top is in the down position, and noticed that this area is very tightly compacted and even "crimped" by the softtop frame. I am sure the damage is caused by the top bouncing around while driving with the top down. Any comments from the group on this and has anyone found anyway to help protect against this damage? I leave my top up most of the time.

Re: Soft-top wear - anything you can do?
Tim,
Its a good idea to take a large, clean, fluffy bath towel and roll it up prior to laying it inside the fold of the rear window when the top is about 1/2 down. That seperates things and reduces abrasion.- Top

Yep, I knew about that tip Dave and have always used the towel. The area where I am seeing the wear is in the open vinyl area in-between the back and side windows.- Top
