A couple questions for y'all.
Is the swap meet open on Thursday? It looks like you can check in at the fair grounds on Thursday afternoon if you have pre-registered.
What motel near Carlisle do you stay at? I'll probably being staying Thursday night only. There is a Super 8 Motel on Hanover St only a couple miles from the fairgrounds, anyone use it?

Yes you can get in Thurday. Book now, but don't be surprised if everything is already taken in town. Last year stayed 24 miles Southwest, but still had a great time.

I actually arrive in town on tuesday and spend a couple of days in hershey park with the kids.

For the last 3 years I have been into the show on thrurday afternoon but nobody is really selling yet there all setting up.

If your definatley going You had better make your plans now.the majority of the places book up in less then a week after the show.We always book for the next show when we are checking out.

I live about 20 miles south of Carlisle. Typically around here Thursday is known as set-up day even though if you wonder around some may be selling. As to motels, as others have said they are typically booked up from one year to another. You may check in my town, Chambersburg, you might find openings.
E-mail me and I can get you directions in the back way ( route 11)that will bring you right into gate 3.

I've been at the Super 8 in front of the Roadway Terminal on Rt.11 north of I-81 for the last four years, took me three years BEFORE that of TRYING to get in. Most people lucky enough to just get into "Carlisle" make their "next years" reservation as the are paying for "this years" stay. I know I do!!!!!!!

Roger, I wouldn't know if there would still be any available, but you might try getting a room at the Wingate Inn in Mechanicsburg. It is only about 10 miles east of Carlisle. Their phone # is 717-766-2710
