recommedation wanted on C2 source of parts

I have a 65 convertible, driver quality. Any recommendations / warnings on the big online parts guys such as Ecklers, Mid-america, Zips, Long Island, Al Knock etc...

Sorry in advance if this crosses the line as to appropriate use of the BBS.

I think you'll find all of them to be good. I especially like the Long Island catalog. It's almost like a parts manual and it's online. Since I live on LI, I get most of my stuff from there.

I like LI Vette also, as they ship really fast and seem to ALWAYS have everything in stock. They are amazing about that. Other places routinely seem to have a few parts of every order on backorder. Pricewise, I too would like to know who is the best - as I am not sure.

If you decide to buy from Paragon (800 882 4688) , tell them you're an ncrs member (they won't ask) and you'll get a 10% discount. Usually that will bring their prices down to what Long Island charges. I highly recommend Long island though, their catalogue is very detailed, and they have an excellent on line catalogue as well.

I have a '66 and have ordered only from Long Island and Paragon. I tried the others and I have had nothing but wrong and incorrect parts which causes me only money to ship them back. My return rate to LI / Paragon is very low due to the item itself. Backorders have been almost non existent with either. Most returns are due to me not ordering the correct item or changing my mind. You may also check your local Chevrolet parts. I have found there are still some items available. My three cents. Thank You

            Tim:

I am just about finished with the driveline and cosmetic rebuild of my '65 convertible. I've used several of the listed vendors, but I've had the most luck (in stock, fair price, on-line catalog, prompt shipping) with Dr. Rebuild. (Just don't call the toll free number with anything but an order.)

I bought a new '67 front grille from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com for about $275, they still make them. The vendors get them there too and charge you $400.00. You would be surprised what you can still get out there. PT

Check with your local Chevy dealer first. Mine even gives 20% off because of NCRS membership. For the aftermarket guys, Corvette Central,Ecklers, and Keen Parts seem to have the better prices, quality, and service combined. Knoch is tops for interiors. Coffman Corvettes for misc. steel frame and component brackets. Depends on the part, as all of them seem to have one thing that the others don't.
