The engine actually slows down momentarily, rather than accelerating during the initial opening of the throttle from idle. Assuming this is a function of the idle mixture, does this indicate too rich or too lean mixture? (The carb is a freshly, rebuit original).

Re: '67 TRI PWR CENTER CARB ADJUSTMENT
Rob,
I say lean but if the car idles fine I think you may need to adjust the acc pump as you may not be getting a good shot coming of idle if in fact it is a carb problem and not related to timing or ignition advance.

Re: '67 TRI PWR CENTER CARB ADJUSTMENT
I do see fuel squirting in. I need the idle mixture screws what I think is quite a ways out, about 4 turns for it to get better. The plugs look fine, though, not wet, no matter how rich I make the idle mixture. How is the acc pump adjustment made?- Top
