    Rewiring a 60

Should there be a rubber grommet in the truck wall behind the gas tank left side for the rear lights wiring harness to go through?
Do you really need to drill out the rivets to the spare tire tube to connect the grounding wire for the rear harness?
    Any advice would be helpfull!!

In my trunk, I have a panel of fiberglass riveted facing the rear of the car. It appears that this is an access panel to get to one of the bolts (nearest to the rear license plate lights) that hold the bumper on. There are two bolts that go into the rear of the trunk, one bolt that comes into the side with rubber mounts and two bolts bolted to the frame underneath.
You can access the side rubber mounted bolt, and the two bolts underneath attached to the frame pretty easy. The bolts (11/16 head) going into the square inlet with a rubber seal are a little tougher. It's the inside one I was addressing?

        Jim--
I've only done one 60, but if memory serves me correctly, that panel (if I'm envisioning the same one you're referencing) should be attached by screws rather than being riveted. I recall no inability to access any wiring or bolts at the rear of that car--and my 57 has a similar panel that is held by screws. That might be where initial difficulty/confusion is taking place.

          Jim,
The panel on my 60 was also held in place with screws. The assembly manual shows screws also. The manual also shows the ground wire attached to the bumber frame with a small bolt

One of the bumpers looks like it had been repaired (rewelded bumper bracket). I took both rear bumpers off to sand off the light rust and strayed rust preventive inside the bumpers. I guess the doctor forgot to tell me about that. I'll have to correct that.
            Thank you all!!!!!!!

My 1960 panel is held in place by philips head screws.

Question, how many screws does your drip rails have per side? Mine has 5 on each side, but judging manual says it should be 4 per side.
