    A 1966 vette Body Cart?

Hi a friend of mine asked if i could him a diagram with dimensions for a sort of cart type device to put the fiberglass vette body on to work on and roll around your shop he said that this device holds the body higher off of the ground than the chassis does so it is easier to work on... any help would be appreciated Thank you please e mail your response to bahmer@rcn.com

    Thank you Bill

    Bill,

Plenty of diagrams have been in previous Restorer articles. I suggest using the online search and finding them. Or, do as I have, and purchase the whole collection on CD so that you can refer to the correct article immediately.

I AM IN SEARCH OF A BODY DOLLY DRAWING(FOR 68 COUPE)ALSO. I HAVE READ ALL THE ARCHIVE LISTINGS AND MADE FULL SIZE LAYOUTS OF THE MOUNTING POINTS OF MY BODY. THE ARCHIVE DIMENSIONS DON'T MATCH MY MOUNTING POINTS. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THE DOLLY OUT OF WOOD,FOR ONE TIME USE. ????

I'm sure everyone on this site has built a cart at one time or other. First thing, I won't use wood, the reason is it could be 5 years or more before you remount the body and wood will flex and sag. It just seems that's the way it goes once you start on the frame and engine, time just flys. I used plastic pipe and it fell apart at about the 4 year mark. If I had it to do over I would use metal, easy to build and permanent. Measure from a level floor to each of the body mounting plates. Draw your own diagram as each car is just a little different. The body will have a minumum of stress if you can keep each mounting area about the same level as the frame. Then if the body off time does go over what you plan, it won't be a disaster.

I built and use a wood dolly made of 2x10's for my 66 coupe. I have used it for 5 years each winter to freshen up mt=y car. I made it so that it can be diss assembled for storage. I even lent it to a friend. If you want more info drop me a note.
