I have searched for a long time for a 63 Fuelie radiator core support. Cant find one (My car ended up with a 64 unit for some reason).
Decided to replace it with a reproduction unit.
I have seen them listed in catalogs from DR Rebuilt and CC. Who sells the best Repro ?
Rainer,
It is my understanding that G.M. at some point decided to use the FI core support for all applications as a replacement part. I have searched for a non FI '63 only support for some time as my car seems to have this over the counter replacement support with the oval FI opening. I missed out on a couple this past year or so.
I have however seen quite a few '63 FI supports for sale claiming to be the original deal. Maybe you should hold out just a little bit longer as this seems to be more available than the non FI '63 only core support.
They seem to be out there!
Syd
My split window had a body off in the late 70's, and over the counter GM parts were used... it has a radiator with the correct part number, but with a '76 date code... and it has a FI replacement support. (the car is a 327/300) I'm headed to VetteFest next weekend and I plan to buy/order a dated radiator, non-FI support and replacement shroud.
I have seen F.I. radiator supports for sale on Ebay, but they were all the later version, with the straight, lower front brace. Those were used on late 63's , 64 and 65 Fuelies. The one I need has the curved brace.
