    C/3 window regulator

I took apart passenger side door to repair manual window regulator. I found that bolt fell out of fwd window causing all my binding problems. I decided to remove everthing and clean it up and regrease tracks. My question is what grease would you recommend for the window tracks and plastic rollers. Thanks Ed

Lubriplate or similar white lithium-based grease.

Joe, I know they used Lubriplate type grease in this application at the factory, so what characteristic of the white grease makes it better for the regulator application than using a lithium based chassis grease? Suppose the General was after minimum winding effort? Maybe because this is a low stress application and it's cheaper than chassis grease?

I am not a big fan of Lubriplate after seeing it dried out in some applications. I could break it off in chunks, and scraped the residue off. I suppose 30-40 years is a long time to expect a grease to maintain its lubricity.

        Chuck-----

The Lubriplate-type grease is what GM recommended be used for the application in service. So, that's what I use. I think that regular chassis grease would work as well, though.

Just about all greases will deteriorate as you described over time. Basically, grease is a compound made from a soap and an oil. When the oil has "seperated and gone" what you're left with is the soap. That's the "gunk" that you described.
