C1's Power Brake Booster post #1

I've seen many C1's that are not NCRS Corvettes or wont to be , having modified Disc-brakes , and dual master brake kits. Yes we all know the C1's are lacking good stopping power and you must really push hard on the pedal . The 55 to 57 T-Bird is also hard but ever more so because of it being HEAVER. While driving a friends 55 Bird with out power brakes and an other with power brakes it felt better then my 55 Corvette. Many people know that I pull a tear drop trailer , which we find great traveling around to meets and car shows. Pulling it, our 55 doesn't hardly know it's back there. Stopping I give my self plenty of time and room to come to a stop.
Well I was thinking how the T-Bird brake booster would work in my 55 and were would I put it.
The T- bird booster is not part of the master brake unit which almost looks just like the C1's, brakes are drum type like the C1's and the booster is on the L/S fender away from the brake unit.
Well I didn't wont to change to disc, or add a obvious dual master unit with a long adapter and metering valve that would take away from the original look.
So I located the booster under the fire wall on the driver side above the plash pan to protect it from road water and debris making a simple angle bracket ( see pic.I only drilled two holes in the frame to make this all work). ran the brake line to it which looks just like the original look ( in and out). The only way to know it's there with out looking for it is the air line going to the back of the carb.
And I'm telling you with less then haft the brake pedal pressure it took before , the brakes now will put you through the window.
Cost of a BIRD booster is about $300 to $400 ,to make a bracket $25.00 and two new short brake lines $10.00.
Compare it to a Corvette conversion kit of $1,200 or more. For what I did, I cant see it being any better for stopping power. As I said no one would knows it's there and my wife and I love it.
And yes! e-mail me if you need more info or interested or to send me hate mail.Look at post #2 also.
