I am beginning the reassembly of a late 57 frame. When I disassembled the front engine crossmount, bolts were a large shoulder bolt with a LARGE head inserted from the bottom with a castle nut on top. As they were displaying some pitting I ordered repops and rec'd regular bolts and nuts and a bushing that would somewhat replicate what I have in function. Which is correct? My menory tells me that at one point 42 yrs ago while pulling a 57 engine that I reached under the mount with a 5/8 end wrench thinking would be correct and wound up with a 1" plus or end wrench as the head was not only large but round with flats on it. Am I dreaming?

Re: 57 front crossmount bolts
Joel,
The bolts are regular bolts and should be head stamped WB2C If I remember right. The nuts are not castle nuts but should have a little stake marks on the side where they were staked to make them self-locking. My recolection is that the bolts and nuts have the same wrench size (5/8 I believe). I do remember that they were fine threaded and used very thick washers.
