Re: C-5 460 Cubic Inch Small Block
Mike,
I have heard they have one with this many HORSEPOWER, but not that many cubic inches. Personally, I'd like to know how to make the 6.0L LS-1 truck motor in aluminum, or open up the aluminum Corvette block to that size. You have to believe that there is one lurking around the Tech Center. If I've thought of it, I'm sure they have...

So where did you hear that one?
Are we both going to trade our '71's in for new ones?

Re: C-5 460 Cubic Inch Small Block
This year, the C5 Registry held its annual "birthday bash" at the factory. I did not attend, but had a long discussion with a friend who did. If I remember correctly, the folks were shown a 472 hp engined 2001 C5, described as a "Viper Killer". This may be a different engine than the one you describe, since there was no reference to displacement; my impression was the the engine included items developed for the factory sponsored racing team, but everything was pretty sketchy. Might be worth a trip to the C5 registry site at www.c5registry.com, and some correspondence with that group.
Anyone have any more information on this version? My '65 is waiting for a younger brother, and 2003 sounds like a very long way off. Maybe the GM folks at Sun Valley can supply some more teasers...
