Its about the 10th different C2 scam on ebay in the last week, and they all go generally like this: Someone in the Netherlands holds a "seller approved" auction where buyers must send an email requesting permission to bid. The seller sends a lengthy response giving some sob story about his fathers death, why he needs the money and says he (it) will ship the car from the Netherlands at his expense. He "only" wants a couple k$ deposit wired. Each of the 10 or so ads display a different car, and have a different seller id. Apparently the crook has stolen identities, and copied bonafide car ads. Sadly ebay has a "buyer beware" policy and apparently is very slow at responding to complaints UNLESS the sale has been made. Even then they don't do much.Comment

Here's a scam for a '67. Note the options of driver/pass/side airbags, four wheel drive, ABS, sunroof and convertible. $2K deposit and a $19.5 K buy it now. I'm not positive, but I believe I saw these pictures as part of a legit eBay auction about a month or so ago.

And yet another one (2465628312), but at least the story is different-This time he's in Germany and his brother died in a bike accident. The dying part is getting a bit old, but at least the price is good (only 11,000$ for this one) If they get much cheaper maybe I'll buy a couple.Comment

Syd: Do you think if Interpol ( International Police ) were notified of these attempted scams that they might possibly investigate the source of these postings and do something similar to what happened when John Hinckley notified the Fort Lauderdale Police about the Vett on Ebay with the Chevelle trim tags? I would think that they should be able to track whoever is doing this. I don't think Ebay will do anything except pull the listing if notified by someone that it is an attempted scam. Just a thought. I realize that Interpol may have bigger fish to fry, but you never know. Len 39247Comment

I really don't have a clue if they would step in. But with all the news you see and hear about internet fraud and people getting busted for scams on-line and hacking, you would think that a fraud of this magnitude would for sure be investigated by one of their crime divisions.
I sent 2 notices to eBay without any response. Then again, I'm a real novice at this. I still type with 2 fingers!

Another one --'62 in perfect condition , $22,500 including shipping from Germany !!! I have been exchanging e mails with this person , Have his address and name (maybe ????), He's asking me to send a down payment of $3,000.00 via Western Union to show "good faith' . I'm trying to get all of the account info , but I doubt that I'll get enough credible info to be of help to any law enforcement agency . We'll see , and will keep the forum posted . GeorgeComment
