I have a 1970 that has the anti theft horn and a lock cylinder on the rear end. The lock is retained by a nut as the cylinder is threaded versus the type that the door uses which has a reatiner clip. From what I have read this a Briggs type cylinder. The problem with this cylinder is that there must have bben some type of face plate that kept it from falling into the hole in the rear end. Maybe some ring that goes around the outside. Anyone familir with this type? Thanks

Re: C3 Anti Theft Cylinder
Don, the change over to the later anti-theft switch occurred at about serial number 11,000 (TIM&JG) during the 70 model year; earlier cars bad the B&S switch, later cars had the clip retained switch.
The first step would be to confirm that your car should have the B&S switch or the later switch...it may have been replace already with an incorrect part. Beyond that, I can only say that the TIM&JG shows the B&S switch as having a bezel (escutcheon?); it's probably a separate part as opposed to being integral as with the later style switch.- Top

Re: C3 Anti Theft Cylinder
If my memory serves me correct, the bezel, escutcheon, comes with the Briggs lock. I am not sure of the total Briggs part # but I think that it ends in 111. The switch is a universal on/off switch. I have seen it used on conversion vans as late as the mid '80'sDick Whittington- Top
