    68 Differential Side Yokes

Is there an orientation that needs to be maintained when the side yokes are in place?

Do they need to be relativley in the same position such as both yoke ends pointing in the same direction for any balancing reasons?

Just curious before I tear the differential down so if needed I can keep an eye on their respective positions.

    Thanks,

    Chuck

No. The phasing of the yokes/axle shafts will change continuously during driving due to slightly different tire rotation speeds, especially during cornerning. The action of the differential gears inside the rear axle allows this relative motion.

      Re: Makes perfect sense

Now that I know I didn't create a big ole problem, I'll admit that I pulled one shaft out, cleaned it all up, put on a new dust shield and THEN thought about this. I broke into a big ole sweat.

Should have remembered the limited slip function.

      The cleanup continues.

      Thanks Duke,

      Chuck
