    Shipping Cost

    I am interested in finding out an estimated cost to ship a 63 hood from NJ to Alabama a distance of approx 800 miles. Can anyone on the board give me some recommendations for shippers and an approximation of the cost? Any help would be appreciated. Tkx Len 39247

      Tough gig

      Trucking companies want about $90 because of the size. I'd call Greyhound. Really. You'll probably have to forget UPS and Fed Ex because of the box dimensions.

      Ask a local Chevy dealer how they get big truck hoods. There has to be something cheaper than $90.

          len: check around and see if any of your southern buddies are attending the regional in new jersey this sppring. maybe they could haul it back in their car trailer. mike

              Len,
              Two months ago I shipped a hood from Texas to Tennessee by Greyhound. Total cost was around $46. Go to their website www.greyhound.com and look for the freight shipping screen (Ship with Greyhound). Enter your hood weight (approx. 35 lbs. including box), starting and ending points to get an estimate.

                  Or see if some of the Jersey members are coming to Charlotte. Maybe you could arrange someone to pick it up there.

                      Thanks to everyone who responded. It looks like Greyhound is the way to go and leave the driving to them. I went on their website and got an estimated cost of $48 to ship it to Montgomery Alabama. The estimated delivery time was listed at between 22 to 24 hours depending on which scheduled bus it was shipped on. Thanks again guys. Len 39247
