    Crank Balancer Pulley 1957 Help

    We have what we think is the original crank balancer pulley for our early #903 '57 270hp engine, but the judging manual seems to be somewhat dubious on which one is correct for this engine. It says " Crankshaft pulley is riveted to the harmonic balancer on all engines (except 1957 283 hp and POSSIBLY some 270 models). It goes on to say, 1957 283 hp high-lift engines (and POSSIBLY some 270 HP use an orange painted balancer with separate bolt-on "deep ride' 1/2-inch belt groove pulley painted semi-gloss black. Would the early production of mid-November '56 swing the vote one way or the other? Riveted or Bolt on? BTW- this car will eventually be judged and we want it right. Thanks.

    On an early 270 hp car like yours, I would expect to see a rivited deep grove balancer pulley. I am very interested in what you have and believe is the original on #903?

      John,
      If I undertand your question, we have a rivited deep grove balancer pulley on this 270hp. This car is in the Mike Hunt registry listed in Nolands book. The car's drivetrain is pretty much in tact, unfortuately the rest of the car was totally disassembled and a lot of the parts were not there. There is certainly the possiblity that this is not what originally came on the car but does appear to be POSSIBLY correct. Why do you ask? Thanks.
