I removed my antenna the other day to rework the ground strap/grounds to improve my signal reception. I discovered that my ground plate was missing the reinforcement plate on it so I ordered a reproduction replacement. When I got the replacement part I noticed two things. 1) It was alot larger then what i thought was my original 2) The original one had three rubber bumpers or tits so to speak that I assume were to space it from rubbing on the underside of the fiberglass body, and the replacement part had none. My question is does anyone know if the rubber tits should be on there and what size exactly should the ground plate be? Thanks for any input!

Re: 1965 Antenna ground plate
Thanks Bill & Mike, This is interesting because the part I removed is shaped like the replacment part, even the edges are kind of rolled over. It measures approx. 6 3/4" on one end 8 1/4" other end and is 6 1/2" long. Also you can see where the reinforcement plate was and the hole thru it was not centered like the replacement. Ill keep it for future reference. Thanks again!- Top

Re: 1965 Antenna ground plate
Jim -- Just happen to have my original '65 ground plane in hand; measures 10.5 inches at the widest(measured along the slightly curved surface), and 7.95" along the rear (narrowest). It is 9.95" front to rear. The steel reinforcement is approx. 2.5" by 4" wide, and is riveted flush to the forward edge of the aluminum plane. The curled "lip" edges of the plane rest against the fiberglass.- Top
