    68 Pass. side dash pad.

This is about the piece the map pocket would be attached to, if 1968 had one. Does this piece come off simply by removing the cross head screws around the perimiter? I'm trying to get at the heat sink with the radio output transistor on it. Is this the best way to get at it?

    Thanks

    Hi Rich.

68's did not have a map pocket.

I got my panel off by removing the perimeter screws, and disconnecting the astro ventilation tube.

Also removed the kick panel first.

    Came out relatively easy.

Your copy of the 1968 Chassis Service Manual tells you how to remove the RH lower dash pad.

      (1) Two screws in RH vertical lip of the center cluster bezel.

      (2) Three screws along the top holding it to the upper dash pad.

      (3) Two screws in the RH forward door jamb.

Some are able to wiggle/sniggle without removing RH sill plate and RH kick panel, but this is recommended for full clearance.

Jack, good advice. But most of all, be gentle. Some of the colors in pads are not available in repro. Iffen if breaks or gets torn, you could be SOL!
