C1 paint question

Are the door striker plates supposed to be painted body color? I took mine off to clean what was left of the paint off, assuming someone was too lazy to remove/mask at the last paint job. There was bare glass underneath and traces of the original color paint on the plate, so I'm thinking maybe they are supposed to be painted???

An ill-fitting mask was put over each of them.They will generally show a bit of overspray on the plates where the plates mate with the body. The remainder is unpainted, therefore the unpainted glass underneath them.

many people are in to the over spray on intake and exshaust manifolds spending enormous amounts of brain time on this, but I haven't seen time spent on over spray for door strikers yet. Which was original (a factory thing).It may be the next big thing coming.

Ed...

Door strikers were installed before painting and masked. Some paint may show on the shim plates.
