    Convertible Tag Preservation

Does anyone have a way to preserve the "Do Not Remove" tag on a new convertible top. This car is driven and in the past on other cars the tag was gone by the time the car got home from the shop that installed the new top. All suggestions are appreciated.

    Re: Convertible Tag Preservation

    Bill,
There is a trick used by a lot of C1 guys that assures you will always have a pristine tag. You can order new tags from Al Knock, so we remove the old tag when it starts to weather and make up a removable one just for judging. The tag is sewn in with a little flap of top material overhanging the tag. If you remove all remnants of the old tag, you can take a glue stick and put a little glue on the edge of the tag and stick it on under the little flap. After the show, you remove the tag and store it away until next judging! The judges are not allowed to pull on the tag, so no one will ever know that the tag is removable.

I have seen some on a car covered with a clear wrap and a plastic sleeve. I would suggest gently removing the tag and storing away. Where the stitching was on the Tag, re-stitch through the same holes. At show/judging adhere to the top with a bit of back to back tape.
