I am working on a 1957 fuel injected car without radio. This 283 hp engine has none of the chromed steel ignition shielding around the distributor that is typical on the radio equiped cars. Is this correct? Were the non-radio Corvettes supplied without shielding? Thanx! Terry.

Re: Radio Equipment

All the parts associated with the radio option, shown on sheets 1 through 5 in the FOA 102 section of your A.I.M., were unique only to cars with the radio option, and were not installed on cars ordered without a radio.- Top

You should be able....
to answer these questions by opening your copy of the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) and going to the radio option section. All of the 'add-on' parts that were required to support the optional radio are called out there. If the car was not radio equipped, then GM saved money and didn't install the support parts called out in the radio option drawings....- Top
