C1 shifter rods are red

My shifter rods and levers look like they were originally red like the color of my car. Per the Judging manual they should be black.

Any idea why mine are red? I would really doubt that when my car was painted they got red paint that far under the car. Could these be rods from somewhere else?

Id say that somewhere along the line, someone painted them red. I don't know of any Chevrolet vehicle that ever came with red-painted shifter rods. GM was never into that sort of thing for chassis components. If chassis parts were painted, at all, they were almost invariably painted semi-flat black. Much of the time, though, they were left "natural" to rust.
