Re: Insurance claims, Any personal experience
One of my previous cars was rear ended. American Collectors let me take the car to one of the best (most expensive) Corvette shops, paid to fix it and then got their money and my deductable back from the person that hit me. Total time off the road was two and a half weeks. It doesn't get any better than that!- Top

Re: Insurance claims, Any personal experience
My experience was with a car engine fire and then flood damage caused by the fire dept putting the fire out! I had Hagerty Classic car insurance and the claim was a bit of a hassle. Took 9 mos before I could send car to restoration shop to do repair/restoration on vehicle.
Problem was that Hagerty's appraiser and adjuster were two different individuals, who didn't agree on the outcome to remedy the situation. The appraiser looked at the car and it's condition and said I needed to find an out junk Camaro to get the parts to repair. The adjuster questioned me about the car, I showed all the books, magazines, and factory documentation, the car had and had been featured in. She then didn't know whether the company would total out the vehicle or repair it. Both individuals said I needed to take it to a shop to have an estimate done. I stated that complete disassembly would be required just to figure a complete estimate of the damage resulting from the fire/flood situation. Then the car, being in a "million pieces" would not be able to be moved, therefore the shop would also have to do the work, I requested it be repaired at one of the 5 best Camaro restoration facilites in the country.
They balked at that, and said they would not pay to transport it out of state. I said fine, I'll ship it. I sent it to Camaro Specialties in New York. Cost was $1400.00 to transport on an open carrier. That shop then completely disassembled vehicle, faxed several pages of specific parts to replace and labor for restoration costs of the damaged area. Hagerty sent me a check for the entire amount. I then paid the balance to completely re-restore vehicle entirely.- Top

Re: Insurance claims, Any personal experience
I had a small fire in my '69 2 years ago caused by my ineptness at welding. The repairs came to about $3500. I have Haggery insurance. Once I got the estimate to repair it to Haggerty I had a check in my hand within 3 days. I also told them that some parts would be hard to find and would take some time to get and be additional to the paint repairs. They told me to do whatever it takes and send them the bill. It took 6 months to find a NOS door panel and when I sent them the invoice I was sent a check within days. No appraiser ever looked at the car and no hesitation on payment happened. I can not say enough good things about how Haggerty handled my claim.

Re: Insurance claims, Any personal experience
Hagerty did not squawk, about the amount for the damage. It ended up being $16,855.00, they paid it, my problem was them wanting it fixed locally, when there was no way in hell, anyone in my area was competent enough to do a full blown restoration. I ended up spending an additional $42,000.00, above Hagerty's portion to have the car done correctly.- Top

Re: Insurance claims, Any personal experience
Backed into a utility pole in the dark (duh, someone must have put it there since I parked the car an hour ago) about two years ago and did $1,200 damage to rear fender and body. JC Taylor said get an estimate from a repair facility of my choice or a qualified individual. I submitted an estimate from a professional hot rod shop and recieved a check from Taylor in about one week.- Top
