    T10 tailhousing types

My T10 tailhousing in my 62 340 has a broken flange on the mount. There was a bolt coming down with a nut instead of threads in the casting for a bolt going up.

It says T10-7D and I could not find any casting numbers on the outside. I was talking to someone who seemed knowledgable and he said that there were many different tailhousings with that number and that they were different dimensionally.

He had me measure from the front of the tailhousing to the center ot the mount. Mine measured ~4.25". It also has 5 mounting flanges for shifters.

Can someone give a little history on T10 tailhousings? I have talked to about 3 other vendors and none have mentioned this difference.

    thanks, Chris

    Re: T10 tailhousing types

essentially by '62 you were down to two types in general usage, the single mount style and one with two mounting pads on the bottom of the mount, all had the five bolt holes for ****fter mounts in this era. The correct mount for your '62 is the single mount style, that is why the adapter was used from the trans mount on the frame to the mounting location on the tailhousing for '62. In addition to the T10-7D you should also have a date on the passenger side of the housing.

thanks. I have a 10-10-61 date. So far the closest I have found is 8-16-61 which I will probably go with.
