Anyone know what the correct color # is for a 63 car with Tan/Saddle leather interior? Should this match the inside of the hardtop? I just got my hardtop done and the interior color that was painted doesn't even come close to the interior of the car. Is this a point deduction?

Re: Correct 63 Saddle/Tan Interior Color
John, what part of the hardtop is the concern, the liner or the trim? I have original saddle vinyl seats and the original hardtop. On yours only seats would be leather. Saying that, our other colors should be about the same. My hardtop liner and the hardtop trim doesn't match any of the interior. The trim on the hardtop looks to be painted with a lacquer based paint. The lines, which is paper, is either dyed or painted. Anyway, the paper liner will absorb paint or dye differently than leather or vinyl. Also, the trim painted in lacquer will look different than the interior trim. Summary, on my car no two pieces look the same. I am looking at them with 41 years of wear and tear. I don't know if I made you feel any better, but let's see what a judge says.

Harry- appreciate the response. I should have clarified. It's not the color of the seats, it's the color of the fiberglass painted inside the car that doesn't match the underside of the hardtop. The hardtop underside almost looks like it's bronze, both the lining and the trim.- Top

Re: Correct 63 Saddle/Tan Interior Color
John,
Your questions can be answered by searching the archives of "The Corvette Restorer".
Briefly the 63 interior parts were painted with Nitrocellulose Lacquer. The 63 Coupe had two colors of Nitrocellulose and one color of Acrylic Lacquer. Don't know which color they used on the hardtop.
Again, search the archives and you will get your answer.
