    59 Oil Filler Tube, Color??

Cannot find the right paint to paint the oil filler tube on a 230hp car. Have tried "quanta" and they no longer have a stock and did not suggest anyone else. The judging manual states "silver with a greenish cast". Please help.

    One possibility...

** I am not a judge and have not had this solution judged. YMMV! **

I took an original tube in and found a good match (by my eye, anyway) from the selection of rattle-can touch-up paint at my local paint store. Maybe someone more experienced can comment on the color in the photo.

    Plastikote "GM 7203"

    Regards,
    Karl

        Bill-----

I think that the argent silver rally wheel paint with greenish hue available from OEM Paints will do nicely. This stuff is expensive (about $25/can) but it's high quality and will serve your purposes nicely. One can will give you a lifetime supply for your needs, too.

          Just for fun...

Several years back I found a Ford Thunderchicken rattle can touch up paint that seemed to be a perfect match for the silver/green unobtaininium hue. They were little tiny cans - ran out - no longer available - gee, what a surprise...!!!

              Bill,

I used Argent Silver Wheel Paint from Eastwood - Part # 1291Z on my '60/230HP. It has that greenish-silver appearance. Its been judged twice - no dings. Eastwood gets 10 bucks for it.
