    Title Weight disparity?

I have a C2 and have noticed this before on other titles, the weight varies cosiderably on the same model of car. Is this because some states, at one time or another did'nt track weights or allowed the person regestering the car to claim the weight they thought was approprate? I know an optioned big block car should weigh more than a no-option small block car but this dosen't always hold true. Any comments or a logical explaination?

NY State DMV thinks my 66 L79 convertble with no options (which they wouldn't know about anyway) weighs 3050 pounds. It's all about revenue, anyway, not accuracy.
