    C3: '69 alarm lock location

I recently aquired a '69 Monaco Orange 350/350 coupe. It has an alarm on it, but I'm trying to figure out if it was a dealer ad-on or some other 3rd party job. I can't read the tank sticker as its still on the tank and covered with a layer of grime.

The lock/on-off swich is located in the rear license plate bezel, just to the left of the license plate light lens. The JG says that factory alarm switches were installed in the center of the rear panel, above the Corvette lettering, so I assume it's not a factory install. What has me wondering if it's a dealer job is that the rest of the installation looks factory, that is, the switches in the door jambs and hood compartment have the "SX" stamps on the head of the plungers, and the rivits holding the switches in the door jambs look factory-like. Any insight if this is most likley a dealer add-on since they used some "correct" parts? Also, is the key for the alarm supposed to fit the glove box and spare tire lock too?

Your description of the factory alarm switch is accurate. The door jamb switches are also used for other warnings such as key in the ignition, door ajar, and courtesy lights, so they would have been installed by the factory anyway.

1969s had a third key (Briggs and Stratton) for the alarm. They did not use the oval key as the later cars did.

It is possible that someone moved the location; can you see any sign on the back of the rear panel that a hole has been glassed in? If not, it sounds like someone did a very good add-on, but I would think that a dealer would have gone with the factoy location.

      Add-on

In addition to Reba's comments, this is one of the few after-initial assy modifications that NCRS will accept during judging without deduction! In the NCRS Judging Reference Manual (the 'white' book), you'll find Section 2, Rule 25, allows without scoring deduction:

"Very inconspicuous functinal non-factory alarm system."

So, unless you want to have the car judged on one of the competing factory concours circuits (NCCB/Bloomington or ChevyVette Fest), all you need do is get the existing add-on alarm system functional!
