I have a 71 454 with a q-jet. It is leaking fuel at the carburator where the line goes into it. It is leaking in between fuel line and the nut. The nut is on tight, it will not turn any further. What would be the most logical cause of this leak? Thanks, Jim

Re: fuel leak
Must be crossthreaded. Hopefully the threads are not stripped. Loosen completely, lubricate the threads very well. Then tighten finger tight. Next by feel slowly tighten nut on fuel line. Make sure you use wrench on the carb side. If you slowly tighten you should feel the proper thread "catch". Tighten
securely and leak should be fixed.- Top

Re: fuel leak
You are very lucky! Most of the threads that leak are stripped from over tightening. A good sealer to use on these threads is Loctite PST. It is pipe sealant with teflon, but without having to use tape. Use of this eliminates the need to possibly over tighten.Dick Whittington- Top
