I replaced the non original type side muffler system with a new reproduction style (two long mufflers on top of each other)over the weekend. Every thing fit together ok until I went to install the rear bracket (s shape) for the chrome exhaust cover.
This bracket had been installed incorrectly and when I turned it around to install it in the correct position (the only way it can go with the new mufflers) I discovered that there was no hole in the chassis rail for it to screw in to.
Now I am baffled......my car is a factory side exhaust car as listed on the build sheet which I have carefully removed from the fuel tank, and checked through the 8 point check list in the NCRS Judging Manual and there is absolutely nothing to suggest that this car did not have a side exhaust system installed from new.
Is it possible that this bracket was left off?
Any thoughts please.
