I am about to repaint the steering column jacket on my 66 big block after renewing the upper and lower bearings, turn signal switch, etc. Can someone tell me the correct color to repaint it? The part of the column that will be exposed in front of the instrument cluster should probably match the semi-gloss interior finish, but should the part of the column that protrudes into the engine compartment be semi-flat black? It doesn't seem feasible that in production, they would paint this jacket two different colors. Logically the entire column would be one color, probably semi-gloss black. Can anyone confirm that? What is the best source of the proper paint? Thanks.

Re: 66 Steering Column Jacket
Mornin' Tom, You are correct, the whole column is simi-flat black. I have used Krylon #1361 or is it 1631? The color is perfect, though I wish durability was a little better. Maybe someone else will have a better choice for you. Bill- Top
