I'm running through the TIM/JG with the '62 and wondering where the heck the seatbelts that are in it came from. The car originally had a black interior but is now red. She's S/N 7646, so was built first week of March '62.
Anyhow, here are the pertinent features:
Web weave: Black, looks like 5 panels (I am assuming 1 panel = each ~1/2 inch strip of material which lies at 45o to the long axis of the belt, right?)
Labels: Irving Air Chute Model ID-51-198-1 SAE STD SBA-4 CAA SPEC TSO-CC 228
Female buckle release handle are painted black, no emblem or marking. On the back of the casting:
Driver's side: American Safety CS5000 B2 Patent #'s 2846745, B2 63
Passenger sid: American Safety CS500 B2 Patent #'s 2846745, 3390436 B2-026
Male buckle catches: Rectangle Design, stamped with # 654 near where belt loops through.
The third owner said the car had no belts in 1970, but owner #5 said they were present when he got her in 1998 and thought they were correct.
So they're close but no cigar. Any ideas on how close? Thanks!
