    C1 Instruments/Controls

I'm trying to staighten out a Bubba mess in my 56. I have several questions about dash controls as some things are missing.
    1. Is there any physical difference in the Heater temp control and the Heater outside air control knob/cable system? If yes can someone descript the knob/cable assembly. I have the parts for one but the knob is not labeled like in the owners manual.
    2. I would like to buy a used Heater/ blower/ defroster switch. Any sources other than Grossuellers?
    3. My windshield wiper cable end that attaches to the wiper motor is snapped. Can someone describe how the cable is attached to the plastic switch on the wiper motor? Source of a new cable? Reference source to show this attachment?

    Thanks for the help.

end of wiper moter activating bowden cable has a small washer at its distal end that is retained by crimping of the cable itself. the small washer fits down in the plastic portion of the wiper motor switch. I assume the cable is too short if the washer is missing. you could remove a couple of turns of the cable housing to effect a "lengthening" of the cable then crimp a small washer on the cable. or you could send the damaged cable to tom and jay maxwell(ads in Driveling) and have them rebuild your cable assembly. good luck, mike

        Allen,
        (1) Heater temp and outside air knobs are physically the same except for the embossed wording. Heater temp embosed: Heat, Heater outside embossed: Air. Judges will expect to read the embossed words.
        (2) I recall swaping parts from a Chevy Heater blower defroster switch in order to get a working "two speed". Can't recall much else. May be worth an investigation on your part. These switches should be less expensive.
        (3) The "Update" sheets to Noland's "Complete Restoraton" book has a "How to hook up your '56-'57 wipers." If you don't have this, email me your address and I'll send you a copy. Regards,
