    Diamond Back Classic Tires

Has anyone ever dealt with this company, Diamond Back Classic Tires? They basically put any kind of sidewall you want on any kind of modern day radial tire. Would like to know if anyone has ever bought a set. If so, how did you like them? Also, any positive and/or negative feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bob Beck

Hi Bob, I have some Firestone Redlines for my 67 that Diamondback made up for me. They look great but I haven't had the car out yet to see how they feel, run. They were recommended to me by Jerry Clark who uses them a lot.

      Bob,

I have a set of Diamond Back Radials on my 57. I drove it to Nashville/Bowling Green and North Carolina last year. Total of 1600 miles on that one trip. I have absolutely no complaints. The balanced well, ride and drive well.

I have a set of redlines on my 71. 4 years later as well as several thousand miles, they are doing fine.

FYI, they are actually a "sidewalled" Dayton Daytona SR radial in my case. That is the tire they generally use.

I also have a set of their tires on my 56. The only regret I have is that I should have put them on sooner.

Hi Bob - I just put a set (205/75R15 with 2 1/2" whitewall) on my 61. They look great. Diamondback was also very helpful when I contacted them to purchase the tires - Brad B.

best part (for me) about the DiamondBack operation is that they will put the red, white or gold stripe of your choice on any tire you direct them to do it on - you can therefore achieve a look (in my case a Goldline, appropriate for my 65) in a current-tech performance tire (in my case Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 215/70R15s). Not that you will win any judging points for that, but it was what caused me to source my tires from them recently.

Thanks for everyones information and opinion. It helps since they do not have a store or travel to any shows and I'm not able to view their finished product. How does the cap they put on the sidewall look? Are the edges visable?
                Thanks again,
                Bob

My wide whitewalls are vulcanized to the tire and the edges are not visiable...not like the add on white walls of long ago.

                  Don't ask how I know.

I had them put a wide whitewall on a set of Firestone Firehawks 215/70 R15 for my 1960. They look great and ride the same as the unmodified tires. Next time I think I will use Aquatread 3's.

hi bob, dont know what year youre workin w/, but on my 57, i bought cokers and had trouble w/ clearance of spare cover. coker said dot required inflation as part of mfg and that made girth larger. i talked w/ diamond back and they said they never heard of such a thing, and would have no trouble building a tire that would fit. for me, ithink i ll go w/ diamond back next time. best re. d.

                            Bob,

Totally different application, but I had the Aquatreds on my pickup when I purchased it. The previous owner had just installed them.

They were horrible in the wet and snow, despite the name. Not that your Corvette will do either, but I'll never buy them in any form again.
