My 64 with a/c needs a new rad support, the bottom is totally rusted away. Corvette Central (I think) sells a bottom repair piece, I haven't seen it, I assume you cut then weld it in. I may never restore the a/c so using a non-a/c support doesn't bother me. Here is the question: A 66 smallblock rad support, non-a/c, is available to me - will it directly replace mine, will every bolt line-up? Thanks.

The '66-7 core support lays back the radiator at a more severe angle than the '63-5 version. That means that the fenderwell mounting points will be different. Of course the angle change affects the design of the fan shroud too.Comment

The radiator support lower repair section sold by the various Corvette vendors, including CC, will work perfectly to repair a 63-67 radiator support (for aluminum radiators only) which has suffered corrosion damage. However, you must first be sure that the corrosion damage is limited to the lower horizontal member. If the corrosion damage is more extensive than that, then this repair piece is not going to do you any good and a reproduction support may then be required.
I believe that the radiator lower member repair section is actually manufactured by CSC Reproductions of Rocky River, OH or by Caledonia Classic Cars of Belding, MI.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment

On my '68, when I started to replace the core support mounting brackets (originals were totally rusted away), I discovered rot not only in the bottom channel, but in both sides half the way up rotted as well. Neither area appeared to have any rust at all, but truth is that it just had not popped through the paint yet. I would have replaced mine at the drop of a hat if one was available to me like you seem to have. Joe's point should be well taken, because if you see rust in one spot, you can bet you have it in other areas that you can't see.Comment

Looks "repairable" (and familiar), but seems like you will have a challenge on the driver's side around your frame mounting bracket with regard to finding enough meat to weld your replacement piece to...that's where you might have to cut in a piece of stock. Lots of fitting and grinding etc. Good job for an accomplished welder. Really hard to say without seeing it in person as to how brittle the area is, but it looks suspect.Comment
