    1969 BB Rebuild Questions

I have pretty much finished putting my '69 390/427 (auto trans) back together and have a few questions concerning some details:

    1. Is there a source for a GF-432 gas filter with the red AC logo on it? The new gas filter I bought looks correct in every way except that it is missing the logo - which makes it look completely incorrect.

    2. Are there suppose to be washers of any sort used with the bolts that attach the water pump to the block? I have seen restored engine photos both with and without washers.

    3. The last question (for now) concerns the location of the engine lift brackets. The location of the front bracket is obvious. The best I can make out from the 68-69 technical/judging guide is that the rear lift bracket is attached to the back of the left cylinder head (I assume in the upper most tapped hole) and should be painted along with the block and head. Is this correct? (Any info on the attaching bolt/washer? would be helpful as well).

    As always, thanks in advance,

    Craig #32671

    Craig-----

Current-production GF-432 filters use a larger diameter housing than originals; they will not fit into original brackets.

Original GF-432 filters, including original logo, can often be found for sale on eBay. Jerry Suvada used to have a supply of these for sale, too, although I don't know if he still has any. You can contact him through his web-site www.neatchevyparts.com

No washers were originally used on waterpump attaching bolts

Lift bracket location is as you have described.
