    C3 1978 Pace Car Wireing

I am working on a 78 pace car that has some major wireing probelms. I am curently working on the doos replacing the power door lock and anti theft wires. When i renmoved the door panel I found a set of relays/switches lying in the bottom of the door not connected to anything. (this fixes the rattle that was in the door) The problem I have is that the new harneses I have do not have any place to plu these into. The old wires were so bad in the door and spliced so many times it could not see if they were even attached. I have checked the wireing diagram but could not locate where these are. i am thining the must be for the anti theft but where do the go?

    Can anyone help?

PS, I have a picture if you need it.

    You're in luck!

Since you own a late Shark, you can get FULL electrical schematic diagrams for it! Those of us with earlier Corvettes are stuck with the limited documentation (wiring diagram) that are published in the AIM and Chassis Service Manuals.

The difference is a schematic diagram makes FULL disclosure of the electrical system, including what happens inside functional sub-assy's that are cable connected. A wiring diagram gives very limited information--it essentially tells you how the individual 'black box' components are interconnected. To effectively use a wiring diagram, you need to have known good modules to replace here/there during troubleshooting. With an electrical schematic, you can actually test a given sub-assy to find out if it's working or not!

The book you want is GM publication ST359-78 and it will provide full disclosure on all Chevy cars built in 1978, including Corvette. Sometimes these come up for sale on eBay in used form. Plus, you might want to check with one of the big auto documentation houses, like Helm, Inc. out of Detroit to see if they still have a fresh copy in stock for you....
