C1 Seat tracks and carpet

Should the carpet fit over or under the seat tracks of a '59? Right now I have the carpet fitting under, with a bit of the track and mounting bolt showing on the outboard side of the seat. This "seems" correct otherwise the carpet would have to be trimmed and lay on top of the mounting bolts. Am I right? Thanks to all in advance.

c-1 seat on top of carpet. c-2 seat of floor pan with rug out in such a way that it flaps over the fastners.mike

Kevin,
I've done quite a bit of research item on thls relative to 1956-'57 Corvettes. I firmly believe (viewing original '56-'57's) the carpet was originally over the seat track mounting tab and bolt. Maybe sometime afterward they changed this practice. Regards,
