1970 Tach / Side Gear Removal

I am try to remove the coupling on the side of the distributor that holds the tach gear. It is the threaded coupling that the tach cable attaches to. It has a slot on each side. What is the best way to remove the coupling without destroying the threads? Thanks for the help

    Don------

Use a wide blade that will "span" the slots and, preferably, one that fits tightly in the slots. Some of the Corvette parts suppliers sell a tool for the purpose, but a homemade tool will work. There's no other way that I know of to remove the coupling without damage.
