    1980 Fuel Vapor Line (??)

I just discovered what I think must be a fuel return or vapor line on my car. It runs along the frame rail below the brake lines, drivers side. It is terminated just below the brake proportioning valve, turns up and is flared to accept a rubber hose. In fact a yellow factory type pressure clamp is still on the metal line. I have been unable to determine where the rubber hose that would attach to this metal line goes.

I lose the back end of the line as it runs over the rear end, but I'll bet it runs up to the top of the tank.

Stephen my 68 and 70 both have a fuel return line and one connects to the fuel filter on the 68 by the smog pump and the 70 connects to the fuel pump and on both cars the return line terminates at a connection on top of the fuel tank.

The charcoal vapour canister is in that location.

          Stephen and Paul-----

.....and that's where the line that Stephen describes originally terminated on the forward end of the car. The charcoal cannister may be gone now, though, which results in the end of the line "hanging". In that case, some "butcher" removed the cannsister but left the line in place since it was a lot more difficult to remove.

By the way, if it matters, the car is smog-illegal without the cannister and a functioning EEC/EFE system.
