    C2 knock off wheels

I need some help. I have a 65 Roadster with knock off wheels. My brakes went our and I suppect the front caliper.

I have not able to remove the locking nut even after several attempts, using an 8# mallet.

The wheel have not been off for about 6 years, (1,000 miles)

    Any suggestions??

Also can anyone recommend a C2 mechanic in Columbia,South Carolina if I can not get the wheel off.

    Thanks

Is that an 8 lb. mallet? I have to ask. Are they repros and if so, did you remove the locking pins first. The only thing that you want to use on them is a lead hammer or maybe one of those special wrenches.

one suggestion from someone who should have known better: If it is a left-side wheel, pay attention to what Mr. Off Arrow is trying to tell you. The left-side spinners are reverse threaded, meaning you need to whack them clockwise to remove them.

If the adapters are correctly installed, the driver's side spinners are right-hand thread, and the passenger side spinners are left-hand thread; in any event, the arrow on the spinner tells the story. Pop the emblem off and check for pins (if they're reproduction wheels).

I knew I had gotten it wrong (d-side vs p-side thread distinction) the minute I posted but I canot edit a post, of course. Oh well. Last time I was whacking and whacking at a KO spinner with no movement I had forgotten to pay attention to what the arrow was telling me (years of leftie-loosie training have a way of creeping back into the mind); I am willing to bet this is his problem too.

Contact Long Island Corvette and spend $8 for their suction cup to remove the cap. Works great and NO scratches, well worth the money! Don H.
