The complete number is 3310 3878261-EH with 864 below these numbers. This is the second holley I have found while cleaning the garage after I moved. I dont remember where I got it.

The 8 in the number 864 means 1968. So this is a service replacement carburetor, right?

After the initial 375 HP 396, did GM decide to use this (part 3878261) for service of other applications?

3 digit code is,year,month and week. you are correct it was sold over the parts counter as a service part
