    C1 Windshield stuff

Where is a good place to get a date coded windshield for a 60?
Also, recommendations on source for the rubber.
    Thanks

Two sources for reproduction glass that should be equivalent on the judging field: OEM Glass (309) 662-2122 and Glass Search (800) 848-1351. Price compare the two as they each have 'sale' promotions from time to time. Hint: the repro glass is expensive enough, but the price gets 'kited' with freight-in considerations. A way to cut cost, is to ask around your local chapter for others needing dated windshields (including those who restore in your area) and combining the orders. They can pack up to three windshields in a single box, single shipment, and that can significantly reduce your total cost.

On the WS gasket, I've had good experience with both Corvette Rubber and the common catalog houses (Corvette Central, Chicago Corvette, Dr. Rebuild) who list straight axle parts.

Larry - I just received a 62 dated windshild from OEM glass. It was left at my doorstep and in spite of UPS's attempts to trash it (box staples pulled out, two holes punched through the box), the glass itself came through OK. It'll be a while before I install it so I can't tell you yet how it fits. There are some vendors for a little less $$, but I went with the advice of several members and the reputation OEM (Dale) has.

I've always used Corvette Rubber successfully, although the windshield frame to body rubber doesn't fit worth a darn. The holes don't come close to matching the T-bolt locations. They are sending me another - no questions asked.

Not the funnest job to do, but a good learning experience thanks to some great Restorer articles by Loren Lundberg and others.

      Regards, Dick

Has anyone used Glassworks for a windshield? Thanks, Joe DeLuca #37862
