Does anyone know of a good source for rebuild information on the cast iron powerglide, such as the one in my '59? Mine won't shift out of first gear, and I'd like to get exploded views, flow diagrams, etc. I've rebuilt several aluminum glides, as well as GM turbos and a few Ford autos, but I've never had a cast iron glide apart, and all of my transmission rebuild manuals do not go back far enough for the cast iron powerglide. Any thoughts?

Re: Roy Braatz' video...
Where do I get Roy's video? Or..... Roy, do you know of a source for flow diagrams, exploded views, and such? I noticed a cover on the side of the case. Is this a governor cover, or just a cover for a servo, or ????? It couldn't be THAT easy, could it?

Re: Roy Braatz' video...
The Governor is most likely your problem if the gear is striped , R/S at the rear area a cup looking cover having four bolts. You loose vary little oil and just pull it out,Any year cast iron trans Gov. Chevy. will work to replace it. Finding the end gear may be a problem to day. Just make a new gasket. Let me know if that was your problem or not and I can talk you through it. My Video can be gotten from Classic Chevy Club.- Top

Re: Roy Braatz' video...
Thanks Roy. I suspected a governor problem, but wanted to verify that this was indeed the governor cover. Yes, it was a stripped gear. I can see why these gears fail, the governor has a lot of mass to it. Much heavyer than, for instance, a Turbo 350 governor. I called FABCO, and they had a gear and are shipping it to me. Thanks for all the help, everyone!
