Does anyone know a trick on the best way to install the upper door panel metal supports on new door panels? The staples in the door panel metal supports are in good shape. Should I somehow try to locate the support, and use the staples to mark spots and then punch those holes in the carboard? The problem is that the new door panels are already stretched and glued on the sides almost to the top. It seems nearly impossible to get to where the staples go for the metal supports without unglueing the vinyl on the new door panels part way down. I thought there must be a better way.....

I have looked at doing the same thing and elected to buy panels with the metal uppers already installed. You miight consider send those back if you can and exchange them for ones with the metal installed. They would probably be worth the small increase in cost.

Thanks for the offer, but I went ahead and finished one side this evening. It wasn't too bad. I pulled the upper portion of the vinyl back, and used the exsisting staples to mark where to put the staples in the door panel after measuring for total length (up and down). I put in a few new stainless staples to make sure it was held rigidly, and then used 3M spray adhesive to glue the remaining vinyl back over the new cardboard and upper metal. It looks nice. After polishing the stainless trim, and putting new door insert metal on too. Once again, thanks for the offer.
