I have a 1962 fuel injected Corvette I just had restored and I want to take a long road trip. I remember a discussion about what to take as spare parts. One of the spare parts was a fuel injection part. Can anyone refresh my memory? Thanks

Re: As far as FI parts...
I agree with the drive cable and the CSV. Neither is likely to go bad on a unit that's recently rebuilt and running properly. The only thing I can add that is possibly apt to strand you would be a seal kit and gaskets (2) for the high pressure pump. If it should start to leak, a real fire hazard exists. If you have an anti-siphon solenoid installed, and I hope you do, a spare might come in handy. Should the solenoid fail(it is an electrical part, afterall) you could get home without it, but you'd have to do some re-plumbing to eliminate it. If it's a really long trip, a set of plennum to adapter gaskets would be the only other thing I can think of, in case you needed to take the plennum off to get at the spider to fix a leak or something similar. Not likely, but the gaskets are cheap and take up little space. All the above mentioned are parts all fuelie owners should have "on the shelf".- Top

Re: As far as FI parts...
I road toured a few years ago and I took along a rebiuld kit, Spare drive cable, spare High Pressure pump, and a spare cranking signal valve. Never had to use any of them, but I still carry them when I travel with the fuelie. A set of points and a condenser will also not take up much space.Bill Clupper #618- Top
