C2 oil filter/can

My AIM shows a GM part #5574279 for the oil filter assembly. This is for a 327 375 Hp. I found a filter with GM part #5574535. I thought all the oil filters were the same from 63-67. If thats true then what does the GM #5574535 fit?

Joe will probably have a more detailed answer, but I suspect the difference is due to the way they were released; the '65 filter assembly in the A.I.M. was a 5574273, and in '67 it was a 5574279 - these were filter ASSEMBLIES released to the assembly plant for production use - the complete canister unit and a filter element. What is the 5574535 you found - a canister, element, or both as a unit? My '72-dated Corvette parts book shows the 5574535 as a "Body, w/stud, 1-qt. capacity", which would make it the steel canister only, which wouldn't show up in the A.I.M., as the production part was an assembly consisting of the canister assembly AND the filter element.

Yes, it will. It will work on 283s, 396s, and 427s, too.

As John stated, the GM #5574535 is just the cannister and the stud (bolt). If that's all you need and you have the rest of the unit (i.e. "adapter" and filter element), it will do you just fine.
