I think you'll find that it's a 3782870 (not 79), which was used in '62-'65 Corvettes, passenger cars, and trucks. "CONV1" is the mold line conveyor it was poured on at the Tonawanda foundry. The Tonawanda source says it was originally in a passenger car or truck, and the "S" suffix pegs it as having been a 327/250hp Powerglide engine assembled at Tonawanda on July 16th and used in a '62-'64 passenger car (Tonawanda 870's were never used in a Corvette). The 291 heads are nice "double-hump" pieces, cast on October 30, 1967 - used in late '67 Corvettes (with the temp sender boss not drilled/tapped), and in '68 Corvettes with the boss drilled/tapped for a temp sender. They were also used on '67-'68 Z/28 Camaros and in high performance applications in Chevelles and Novas.- Top
