I have a dual point distributor that is numbered 1110891 5L9. Is the 5L9 a date code, as December 5, 1959? Thanks! Mike

Re: C1 distributor numbers
Mike --- If the earlier dual point distributors 1110891 followed the same dating pattern as used on C2 and up, the order is Year(last digit of) / month (letter) / day, which in your case translates to 5(year) November, 9th day (no letter "I" was used). As this distrib. was first used in 1957, the "5" probably refers to 1965, and would represent another production run to satisfy demand. GM does this, as I bought an over-the-counter 1111069 distributor in 1981, with the band date 0 D 29 (29th April, 1970 [or '80]), even though this distributor was produced initially only for "64 and '65 engines.- Top
