GM had a PLETHORA of part numbers for these check valves and I'll never understand why. They are a very simple device and are not, in any way, a "calibrated-type" valve. They simply prevent backflow from the exhaust to the AIR pump. The only reason for a difference that I could see would be to have different size fittings on each end. I don't know why even this woulld have been necessary, but, if it was, then that could create a few part numbers for the various combinations of fitting sizes.
In any event, the GM #22048221 was, as clem mentioned, never used on a Corvette. It was used on some full size Chevrolet passenger cars and Chevrolet and GMC trucks as well as some other GM cars. It is interchangeable with GM #22017478, GM #22040897, and GM #12562568.
Curiously, the GM #22048221, although it was never used in PRODUCTION or catalogued as a SERVICE replacement part for Corvette applications, does have an appearance and configuration which is virtually identical to the Corvette valves. How it differs I do not know. But, I'd like to.
